Announcements & Orders

Court Policies and Access Related to COVID-19

  • All Civil calendars, excluding Jury Trials, recommenced May 18, 2020. Civil Jury Trials recommenced in June 2021.
  • All Probate calendars recommenced effective May 18, 2020.
  • Public phones and Counters at the Chico Courthouse have returned to regular business hours (8:30 am - 4:00 pm M-F).
  • If you are self-represented (do not have an attorney), you may file papers electronically, via mail, or via drop-box at either Court location between the hours of 8:30 am - 4:00 pm M-F.

  • Public phones and Counters at the Oroville Courthouse have returned to regular business hours (8:30 am - 4:00 pm M-F).
  • Regular Arraignment calendars recommenced on Friday, June 19th. If you have a citation, own recognizance release, Notice to Appear, or Bail Bond, you must appear on your scheduled date and time.
  • If you need to make a payment on a previously imposed sentence you can make your payment online. If your case is not available online, you may pay by mail or contact the Court by phone during the above hours.

If you are represented by an attorney, please contact your attorney for additional information.

  • Child Custody Mediations continue to be limited to phone or video interviews/sessions unless otherwise directed by your Mediator (child interviews may be held in person). Day-of-Court "VIP" Child Custody Mediations are suspended until further notice.
  • If you are self-represented, it is recommended that you contact the Court's Self-Help center via email at asksharp@buttecourt.ca.gov or visit their website at sharpcourts.org.

Juvenile Traffic

  • Juvenile Traffic matters are being heard as scheduled.

Juvenile Dependency (WI 300)

  • Regular Juvenile Dependency calendars recommenced the week of March 30, 2020. However, some matters may be continued prior to the hearing by the Court. Parties should coordinate with their attorney prior to their hearing to confirm whether their case will proceed.

Juvenile Delinquency (WI 602) and Transitional Age Youth (TAY)

  • Regular Juvenile Delinquency and TAY calendars recommenced the week of March 30, 2020. Parties and Counsel should report to the Juvenile Hall Courtroom at their scheduled date and time.

Adoptions

  • Adoption hearings will proceed as scheduled.

Adult Traffic/Infractions (Chico)

  • Public phones and Counters at the Chico Courthouse have returned to regular business hours (8:30 am - 4:00 pm M-F).
  • If your case does not require an appearance, you may pay your citation online or contact the Court. You may submit documents to the Court either by mail, via drop-box at either Court location (8:30 am - 4:00 pm M-F), or by eFiling.
  • Thursday Traffic Arraignment calendars recommenced on April 2. However, Calendar sizes remain limited. It is strongly recommended that you handle your citation online or by telephone if possible.

Juvenile Traffic/Infractions (Oroville)

  • Juvenile Traffic matters are being heard as scheduled.
