Neither Court facilities nor court proceedings may be photographed, recorded, or broadcast except as provided in the rules below.

Request to Film or Photograph Court Proceedings
To photograph or film inside a courtroom, you need written permission from the judicial officer assigned to the proceedings. To request permission to film or photograph, use the forms below.

Forms must be submitted five court days before the proceeding unless good cause is shown. Email completed forms to Administration@buttecourt.ca.gov. The Court will send notification when a decision is made about the request.
Request for Interview or Comment
Submit all requests for interviews and request for comments to the Court Executive Officer, Sharif Elmallah, at Administration@buttecourt.ca.gov.
Media Requests for Case Information
Reporters should obtain case records (information and documents) through the standard public process:
- Use the public case search tool to find all non-confidential, non-sealed case types.

Media Access Portal
Civil unlimited complaints submitted through e-filing and not yet processed by the Court require access requests/inquiries sent to Administration@buttecourt.ca.gov.
Request to Film or Photograph Court Facilities in or Around Court Facilities
Permission to film or photograph court proceedings DOES NOT extend to any other areas in or around court facilities. This includes the entrances and exits to court facilities. To request permission to film or photograph in or around court facilities, send an email detailing the request to Administration@buttecourt.ca.gov. The Court Executive Officer or their designee will review and rule on any such requests.
