Solicitation for Appointed Counsel – Termination of Parental Rights in Adoption Proceedings
The Superior Court of California, County of Butte is seeking to establish a list of independent qualified attorneys or firms to represent adults and minors in cases involving termination of parental rights in adoption proceedings at the trial court level (Family Code sections 7660 through 7671). Counsel is appointed on an ad hoc basis to represent a party or parties upon the determination of the Court. Court calendars for these matters occur weekly on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. at the Oroville Courthouse located at 1 Court Street Oroville, CA 95965.
Qualifications
Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar is required.
Prior experience providing these services, and/or representing clients in adoptions, family law, or juvenile dependency cases is desired.
If selected to provide services for the Court, individuals are required to submit to and pass a Live Scan background check prior to providing services.
Compensation
The rate for counsel is $85 per hour for time spent rendering services. Counsel who are selected to provide services will be appointed by the Court on an as-needed basis.
Proposal Instructions
Interested individuals must submit a complete proposal. Proposals must include:
- A resume which demonstrates the minimum qualifications for this position are met.
- If applicable, qualifications of staff that will assist the contractor in performing solicited services.
- Proof of business and professional licenses.
